Attitude towards life

On Tuesday morning, we have classes about physical anthropology, which taught us to be grateful. When we were supposed to fill in the column that dealt with our complaints and positive thinking, more than one mentioned the situation now we were facing. What’s more, whether about the money, the food or the living condition in Eton Hall, most were complaints. Then Mr. Jage asked us a question: how many of you are receiving money from your parents? Few of us raised our hands. Then it came to another problem: we are complaining about the little money while we can use the money to go for our life. As a matter of fact, nowadays most of we have still been receiving the money from our family although we are the scholars. We have been in Singapore for about four or five months, which, to be honest, is neither a long nor a short time. Maybe you will say we haven’t been accustomed to the life here. After we have lived here for a long time, we can save money rather than ask money from our parents. However, I think too some degree, we have been used to the life here. If we want to have a big dinner every day or buy a lot of new clothes or bags, I think the money is not enough. On the other hand, if we just want to not be hungry and focus all our attention on the study rather than the food or the clothes, the money is enough. In my opinion, we come here for study and the other reason is that we are offered scholarship so that we needn’t ask money from our parents. If we just come here for fun, we can go on living like that, spending a lot of money and time shopping instead of studying. Half of the bridging course has passed. I think we should try our best to learn the second half better. What about you?
