Different culture, the same friendship

Yesterday, my host family took us to a church near changi airport to participate in an evening party.

In the party, there was a young band performing music for us. They all just graduated from university and are Christians. Every time before they sang a song, they would tell a love story about girlfriend or family. In those stories, the Indian guy’s story moved me. When he was young, his father left home and went gambling without coming back. He mother didn’t have a stable job. She helped the rich clean the house and sew the cloth. She did whatever she could did to earn money for the guy to study. Unfortunately, she died for overworking, when the guy was fifteen years old. He was angry with world for he didn’t know why he would suffer a lot and shouted and screamed crazily. But he said God didn’t give up him because the friends in the band saved money every month to help him live and they always gave him more money they earned in performance.
Except the Indian guy, all the teenagers in the band are Chinese. Though a black guy playing with some yellow guy looks stranger, they really care each other because of their friendship.

  1. Is it a true story? If it is, how poor this guy is! He must have a strong mind. After suffering those miserable experiences, he never gives up. I think we should learn to build strong will like the main character in the story. There will be many unexpected things. When we meet them, we should face it and do something instead of complainning.

  2. I do believe friendship is great and true friends help you a lot. As you said, the boy was thankful for his friends from different culture, I think friends are forever despite the races, countries and colour of the skin.

  4. There are many people who are suffering a lot in the world, far more than we think there should be. Some are struggling against poverty and some are fighting with illness. Others may be in deep sorrow due to losing the one they love. Everyone has encountered hopeless situation. However, we are still continuing our lives, because we own love. I hope everyone could appreciate the love he or she gets from others and I believe that we can go further with so much love around us.
