Evolution or Devolution

   Imagine that thousands of years ago, somewhere in the African jungle, an ape tried to walk upright, only relying on his feet, for the very first time. Imagine that thousands of years ago, somewhere in the mountaintop cave, Suiren discovered fire by drilling into wood for the very first time. Imagine that thousands of years ago, somewhere in the Nile Valley, a primitive man found that the seeds dropped in the rich soil could bear fruits for the very first time. Imagine that thousands of years ago, somewhere on the Aegean Islands, small independent towns learnt to unite to form a bigger and stronger country to resist foreign aggression for the very first time... These are how our ancestors invented, discovered and created everything. These are how our human society came into being.
   In the process of exploration and evolution, there are so many firsts that almost everything in the modern society began with their own special firsts. But have you ever thought about the difficulties and the voices of doubt they encountered when they made their first attempts bravely? Luckily, however, they overcame all the criticism and  sneers, otherwise, we would have waited for another decades to develop the civilized human society. This is what evolution really means. Compared to the evolution of human bodies and human genes, I think the evolution of the human creativity and ability to explore the unknown areas is much more important and precious for human civilization.
   To my great saddness, there seems to be less and less creativity and curiosity in today's world. Maybe, you would argue that most of the greatesr inventions like the four great inventions of ancient China, electricity, computers, have already met the fundamental needs for our survival, self-development and entainment. So there is hardly anything left for us to invent or discover now. Obviously, this kind of excuse does not make any sense. Without fire, our ancestors could still scramble for a living by eating raw food; without discover the rule of seeding and harvesting, our ancestors could still survive on the wild fruit. Then there would not be any difference between our ancestors and the apes, jumping across brunchs picking up berries and biting the quarry alive like othe wild annimals. So our ancestors made the difference themselves through their own efforts and creativity. From the very beginning, some of them regarded them as different, and they should use their creativity to make both their living standards better and their special species distinguished.
   To some extent, this may be some kind of mission, determiniaton or hope. On the contrary, in the modern society all I can see is contentment. But the world we see right now is far from perfecct, and the universe we know right now is by far finite. So why not think more about bettering our lives, making the difference to the imperfect world, making yourself different.
   What a shameful devoltion! But never look down upon the creativity of human beings. Make the difference of your own to the world, and this is what the saying-"life can be infinite" really means.
