Last week we focused on anthropology, and we talked a lot about religions. It is a worldwide phenomenon that everyone has his or her spiritual support, of which either is a religion or superstitious ideas. However, in my perspective, the magic power which really makes a difference is not the religions or the superstition themselves, but is the positive effects they have on humans.
Superstition provides people with confidences and positive attitudes towards an issue that increase their success. In China, most of the natives are free thinkers, while many of them are superstitious. They believe that certain objects or numbers will bring them luck and fortune as well as burning incense and praying will help realize their dreams. For example, when facing the college entrance examination, parents usually bring their children to temples to pray. They go down on their knees and pray sincerely. They tell their dreams to the spiritual being and believe that he will bless them to make their dreams come true. Sometimes fortune-tellers predict the future for them, they will hold on the belief persistently. All these beliefs often make differences as a result of becoming motivations for people to move on. They serve as spiritual supports which provide inner comfort and self-confidence for people. As a result, people who truly believe in it will become charged and strive for their goals with the psychological hints that they will succeed in the end. In my opinion, it is the effects superstition have on humans that make a difference.

ReplyDeleteIf you believe it, so it exists. If you don't believe it, so it doesn't exist. Sometimes superstition helps the society more stable.
