Family versus Lover

This year young people are facing a rare dilemma of the heart when Chinese new year's day occurs at the same time as Valentine's Day.
The Chinese new year's day, or the Spring Festival, is a traditional festival for  the family reunions. For thousands of years, the Chinese celebrate the arrival of the new year with their family, getting together and enjoying the sumptuous dinner on the New Year's Eve. Valentine's Day, however, is a reflection of fashion and modern civilization. It seems now a trend or even a custom to express our love on this particular day. So clearly this kind of dilemma results from the conflicts between the tradition and fashion.
However, this conflict is not fresh at all, and recalls an embarrassing question mom asked when I was young to me.
For more than once mom asked curiously: "If mom and your girlfriend is drowning at the same time, crying for your rescure, which one would you choose to save first?" With mom's eyes staring at me, desperate for my answer, I responded without hesitation:" Both, of course." Since that moment, I have been in this dilemma, and this year's situation is only a more serious test for us.
No doubt this is a very difficult choice, and I can also walk through this test as some cynics, responding in the same way when I was young. I believe this is what most teenagers thought and planned. Just as one of my friends told me, he would spent the daytime with his families, and have a romantic night with his girl friend in a cafe at night on that particular day. Much to my surprise, another friend found out a much better solution-"inviting his girl friend to have dinner with his families." Nearly perfect! But what about his girl friend? What if someday we really have to make the hard choice?
Mom or girl friend? Tradition or fashion? Family love or sweet affection? You cannot have your cake and eat it. Absolutely right. In other words, we should not take it for granted that everything is in our possession.
In a word, take everyone' feelings in consideration at first, then listen to the voice from your deep heart to make your choice. Once made, stick to it, and never ever regret or hesitate. Just remember that we are not Almighty God, and there was in the past, is and always will be someone we are destined to hurt this life and make up for in afterlife.

  2. It is really a difficult choice. I think most people will choose family; nevertheless, there is only one Spring Festival in a year and it is the most important festival for Chinese.
