Hello everyone! Today I will talk about creative problem solving. That is solving problems in a creative way. Let’s look at an example first. There is a city in which people are used to throwing rubbish on the ground instead of into rubbish bins. So what will you do to solve this problem? Maybe in your views, heavy punishment or frequent patrol are good options. But in reality, no matter how much effort you take, it just gets very little improvement. On the contrary, a man invented a new rubbish bin. If you throw rubbish into it, it will tell you a funny joke or play a piece of beautiful music. The special rubbish bin achieves great success because the public favor it very much. In this way, the city become clean and tidy gradually.
Another example. An old lady lived a quiet life in a large garden. But there was one thing kept annoying her: many visitors came to her garden for picnic and left a terrible mess after their gathering. Although she tried to reason with them, the situation didn’t get any better. But finally she solved the problem. What did she do? She set up a notice board. It said there are some deadly poisonous snakes in her garden, and for visitors information，the nearest hospital is only 5 miles away. After that virtually nobody dare to step into her garden and she can live a peaceful life.
We all face problems everyday and many of them seem hard to handle. If we can change the way we think, we may solve problems in a creative way. That would be fun, isn’t?
