Did your parents read your diary when you are young?

Did your teachers in the primary school ask you to write diary everyday? Did your parents require having a look at your diary or reading it secretly? When this kind of things happens, we have no choice but to fulfill our parents’ requirement reluctantly. However, is it fair for parents to read children’s diary?

Some parents consider that they have the right to do it as guardians to their children. Reading the diary can give them an insight into children’s inward world and then they are able to guide their children properly or correct their children’s behaviors in good time. Others know that it is an infringement of children’s right of privacy, they are still curious about the content of the diary, though. Only few parents guarantee to entirely respect their children’s privacy. For parents, it seems to be apparently reasonable and valid to read their children’s diary. As a matter of fact, it is a typical example for violation of human rights in our daily life. Parents always believe that their actions are for the sake of their kids and what they have done are completely of good intentions. While children do not think so and those issues may break the credit between them.

No matter what circumstances you have met, ensure not to do the same things to your child. You show your respect for him or her, at the mean time, he or she will learn it from you.

  1. Although I do not have the habit to keep a diary, I agree with your opinion completely. Evidently, it will surly make matter worse by looking at the child's diary and confronting them directly. To give them a freedom to their spaces is the best choice.

  2. If you can understand the parents thoughts about you and all the children, you may understand why they want to do so. If they don't do so, you should be thankful to them, or you shouldn't be angry with them.

  3. AS with me, it happened before. my dairies were peeped in my absence. i felt somewhat angry but what could i do? nothing but angry. parents were traditional and they couldn't perceive why our little rights seem so important.

  6. haha~~have you encountered such problem?
to tell you the truth, i have.
it was not a diary but a note book in which i wrote my thoughts and deep emotional feelings.
i was shocked when mom came to me and asked me about the things i wrote in the notebook.
    what an embarrassment!
now i have grown up, and i gain more respect from my parents. i can put my diary or something like that on the desk without feeling worried. haha~~
